Many people in Swords are experiencing an increase in noise from the airport since the opening of the new runway.
To discuss the issue and what can be done, Swords Councillors have organised a public meeting for next Tuesday.
The meeting will take place at Forrest Little Golf Club at 7.30pm on Tuesday April 18th, all are welcome.
Cllr Ian Carey said:
“I have seen a real increase in the number of people in the Swords area who are being disturbed by aircraft noise since last summer.
“Right now it is clear that the airport is doing very little to lower the impact it is having on communities in Swords. We know that that there are a number of ways the DAA could reduce noise in Swords. They could install a barrier near the blast pad on the North Runway to reduce the impact of throttle noise at take off. They could also adjust their operations to put more take offs on the South Runway. This would be of huge benefit to South Swords.
“It’s clear that we need to work together as a community to make Dublin Airport a low impact airport. This is about allowing the airport to complete its schedule but in a way that has the least impact on the community.
