A site in the Fosterstown lands has been acquired for River Valley Community National School, according to reports from the DDLETB.
This will become only the second primary school in the South Swords area, after Holy Family, and will help to resolve a long standing issue of school place shortages in the South Swords area.
Councillors on the board of the DDLETB have said that the site in Fostertown has now been acquired. These lands are located between the Forest Rd and the Dublin Road.
It is not yet clear exactly which lands have been acquired but the latest Fingal Development Plan places the school next to Boroimhe Birches and opposite the Forest Rd from Boru Court.
Cllr Ian Carey said:
“It is fantastic news to hear that there has been real progress on locating this school in Fosterstown. Anyone who has tried to get their child into Holy Family knows how difficult it is and how long the waiting list is every year. It’s a situation that could have been easily dealt with by some simple forward planning but the Department of Education have been poor in their planning and school provision for the Swords area. It’s a problem I want to never see repeated.”
