Planners in Fingal are seeking more information on a proposal for a new café and apartment block at the end of Colmcilles Court, off Main St.
The plans are for an 8 unit apartment block at the end of the lane with a café or restaurant at ground level with a large terrace overlooking the river.
It will be a four-storey structure with two one-bed and six two-bed apartments with balconies.
Planners are seeking further information on the status of the bike parking, the pedestrian entrance, the water services, and the ecological impact of the building.
Cllr Ian Carey said:
“This is an interesting proposal it is broadly a continuation of the heights of the existing buildings and creates the possiblity of opening up the area next to the river in a very positive way. It’s important to get a clear understanding of the ecological impact of the proposed development, including the impact on the small road by the river.
“In general would perfer this area to be developed in plan led way because it is really important to the future development of the town but this proposal, on the face of it, appears to be in keeping with the surrounding area. It will also provide more passive surveillance to the area and some badly needed homes.”
