Local libraries will soon have the ability to provide a virtual tour of the new Swords Cultural Quarter.
Ten Virtual Reality headsets are currently being procured by the Fingal Library service which will allow members of the public to get an understanding of what the new library, theatre and arts space will look like.
The virtual reality tour will also bring alive the landscaping around Swords Castle and the new entrance to Swords Town Park opposite the new cultural quarter building.
The technology also allows for views from the top of the SCQ building and from the balcony which will face the castle.
The project will break ground in the coming weeks and it is expected to take two years to complete the construction.
Cllr Ian Carey said:
“I got to try out this VR tour before the council meeting earlier this week and it gives a real insight into how Swords will look. It’s very difficult to appreciate the scale of something from just looking at plans or to really understand how it will fit into the landscape. This VR tour really does that.
“The Swords Cultural Quarter is going to have a really transformative impact on the town. It will balance out the commercial hub at the other end of Main St and become a centre for the kind of cultural offering we haven’t have before.”
