A new urgent care clinic has opened in the Swords Business Campus on the Balheary Rd.
The Laya Urgent Care Clinic will treat minor injuries and illnesses within 60 minutes – to allow people to avoid A&E.
The clinic is part of a growing healthcare campus in the business park which currently includes the HSE’s Community Healthcare Network and an IVF provider.
The new clinic will open from 10am to 10pm every day of the year. The urgent care clinic is available to all, but non-Laya members will pay an initial consultation fee of €140.
The clinic will treat: wounds, sports injuries, fractures, minor burns, back pain, nausea, vomiting, UTIs, skin infections and ear infections.
Cllr Ian Carey said:
“This new service will not doubt get good use and will mean many people don’t have to travel outside Swords for urgent care. It will also help to take the pressure off our public hospitals. However, public healthcare should be growing to meet the needs of the community but sadly we see a service that is struggling to stand still and private providers filling this gap. We need to have greater political concensus around the need to invest more heavily in public healthcare provision.”
