As the public consultation into the Swords Cultural Quarter beings, Fingal County Council have made public all the architectural images and reports into the proposed new building and landscaping around the castle.
Commenting on the launch of the consultation, Cllr Ian Carey said:
“Now for the first time we are really starting to get a sense of what is planned here. Swords has always had a lack of cultural facilities. Anyone who has played in a band or take part in a play or show have had to travel elsewhere in Dublin to rehearse or put on a performace. This is going to change with a new theatre and rehersal space right in the middle of the town.
“The library facilities will also be a massive boost. It will probably be five or six times bigger that what we have at the Rathbeale Rd and much more accessible to the whole town.
“I would encourage people to take the time to look at Document 26 in the consultation. It has the catchy title of ‘SCQ-ZZ-RP-ODT-AR-03000’ but it is far from boring. It is the architectural report by the architects O’Donnell and Tuomey and it tells the story of what is being proposed and illustrates it really well.”
The consultation runs until August 22nd and I would encourage anyone who has an observation to make on it to do so.
