A local man has been jailed for riding a stolen motorbike on the Swords Manor pitches.
The 22-year-old was jailed for four months at Swords District Court last week after he was caught by Gardaí last May.

Cllr Ian Carey said:
“The use of scramblers around the Swords area is a scourge and those who engage in it are putting the public, often children, and themselves at extreme risk.
“I’m glad to see that when someone is apprehended that their case is brought through the courts but the problem has been catching them in the first place, without putting people at further risk. The number of people doing this is tiny and I hope this case works as a strong deterrant to those considering using scrambers in our parks.
“I would like to see the Gardaí use their new powers to seize more motorbikes, where they suspect they are being used in public areas. If you know of anyone who is doing this please consider reporting the address to Gardaí in confidence. Scrambler use in parks is a fatality waiting to happen by getting these bikes seized you could be saving a life.”
