The family who own the Lord Mayors site are looking to sell it with planning permission in place, according to reports.
The site, which includes the old Lord Mayors Pub, is being sold with permission to build 134 apartments.
The permission allows for the iconic pub to be demolished and replaced with a modern apartment block with space for retail on the ground floor.
The land is over 3.4 acres and the permission allows for a 134-unit apartment scheme made up of 59 one-bedroom apartments, 67 two-bedroom apartments and eight three-bedroom apartments over four blocks, with communal storage areas, crèche, communal gym and five commercial units.

Cllr Ian Carey said:
“It is unfortunate to see this. It means that the site, which is in many ways the entrance to the town, is likely to continue to lie derelict for some time to come. With the boardered up houses across the road it give a very bad first impression of Swords and it really shouldn’t be allowed to stay this way.
“I’m often asked what is happening with the site and when will the apartments be built. It’s clear now we are nowhere near that happening.
“I think the community would have preferred to see the iconic pub retained in any plans to see apartments delivered there. It’s also a wasted opportunity that the pub was not allowed to continue to trade while this process played out. It could have been given a cheap short term lease to stop the area suffering from long-term vacancy.”
