The six-week oral hearing for the Metrolink concluded this week and the inspector will now prepare his report for An Bord Pleanala.
Documents made available during the hearings will now be put out for public consultation. The board will likely make a decision by the end of the year, depending on when they receive the inspectors report.
Cllr Ian Carey said:
“I got to speak on RTE Drivetime show on Radio 1 this week in relation to the Metrolink. I make clear the need to get this project moved the delivery phase as soon as possible. We have been waiting for two decades for this project to start and it needs to clear the planning phase before the end of the year. The new round of public consultation should take written submissions and the inspectors work should move forward at pace. Time to stop talking about this and get it built.”
