Fingal County Council are currently working on plans for a 57 unit housing development in Holywell, Swords.
The new homes will be located on undeveloped land on the North West of the estate, inside the Holywell Distributor Road.
The new development was mentioned in the Chief Executive’s Report to the September meeting of Fingal County Council but full details have not yet been presented to councillors.
According to the report the council are currently at the pre-planning and design stage with conveyancing complete. The Fingal housing department expect work to begin on the site in Q2 2024 with the building complete in late 2025.
It seems from the list of contracts awarded by the council that they are using the same architects that are working on the Seatown Road apartments.
Cllr Ian Carey said:
“It’s not clear yet what this development will look like. I look forward to getting more information on the coming months through the area and full council meetings. I know people often have concerns about new developments next to existing estates but I hope it can be delived in a way that is sensitive to the existing community. We have such strong housing need in the Swords area it is good to the council working to deliver homes within the existing boundaries of the town, and close to existing facilities. I do have wider concerns about the connectivity of Holywell to the town centre of Swords, particularly for those hoping to walk or cycle. With the delays to the R132 connectivity measures I believe we need to look at interim measures, particularly if the council are delivering more units to the Holywell area.”
