The healthcare division of German technology giant Siemens are expanding their operations in Swords and creating 100 jobs.
Two thirds of the new positions will be high-level engineering roles in areas such as data sciene, AI and machine learning.
Siemens have been based in Swords since the 1960s but this new investment will make Swords a centre of excellence for immunoassay instrument research and development.
Immunoassay is a type of biochemical test and they are used in home pregnancy tests and in sports anit-doping analysis.
This new centre is looking to make advancements in the detection of infectious diseases, cancers and blood disorders.

“This is yet more positive news for Swords in relation to pharmaceutical and healthcare investment. Swords is continuing to grow as a hub for these industries and it is really positive to see some of our longest standing employers continue to make strong investments for the future and keeping these highly prized R&D roles in Fingal.”
